Competition Rates & Rules

Below is a full overview of the rules, formats and qualification structures for every competition we run at Barony Golf Lab. Each event has its own scoring system, 
entry rules and prize structure.

Course of the Week

£20 – Member 
£25 – Walk-In

Leaderboard based on the BEST score of the week.

Competition Rules

Unlimited Attempts Allowed – players may enter as many times as they like, paying each time.

Best Score Counts – only the best score is used for leaderboard, points, prizes.

Multiple Entries Give More Chances – players may replay to improve.

Points Awarded on Best Score Only.

Playoff Qualification – weekly winners qualify for Summer & Winter Playoffs.

Standard Conditions – identical TrackMan settings; round must be completed.

Unlimited Attempts Players may enter as many times as they want.

Only the Best Shot Counts 
Best drive (LD) or closest shot (NTP) is used.

Must be a legal Trackman reading, no mulligans

If any player qualifies multiple times, the next player on leaderboard points moves up into their place.

Top 16* players qualify for the Winter Playoffs.
Playoffs consist of 3 Rounds:

Standard Texas Scramble Rules 
Teams of 4 players. 
All players tee off; team selects best shot. 
All players hit from that position. 
Minimum 2 tee shots per player must be used. Standard TrackMan event settings across all bays. 

Monthly Scramble League 
(Leaderboard Format) 

Runs for one month (4 weeks). 

Teams play one official 18-hole Scramble round at any time during the month. 

Leaderboard is based on lowest total score. 

Teams may re-enter (paying again) to improve their score. 

Lowest total score at the end of the month wins. 

Tiebreakers: Back 9 → Back 6 → Back 3 → 18th → Sudden death. 

Knockout Texas Scramble (Playoff Style) 

Month-long knockout tournament. 

Round 1: All teams play; top 8 scores advance. 

Quarter Final: Top 8 → Top 4 advance. 

Semi Final: Top 4 → Top 2 advance. 

Final: Top 2 teams play 18-hole Scramble; lowest score wins. 

Tiebreakers: Back 9 → Back 6 → Back 3 → 18th → Sudden death. 

Ryder Cup Team Event (2 × 18 Holes) 

Round 1 – Fourball (Best Ball) – 18 Holes 
Teams of 2 vs Teams of 2. 
Best score between the pair counts for the team. 

Total match is 18 holes. 

Scoring: Win = 1 point, Half = 0.5 points. 

Round 2 – Foursomes (Alternate Shot) 
18 Holes 

Teams of 2 alternate shots with one ball. 

Player A tees off odd-numbered holes; Player B tees off even-numbered holes. 

Total match is 18 holes. 

Scoring each hole: Win = 1 point, Half = 0.5 points. 

Winner Determination 
Total points across both rounds decide the winner. 

If tied: 3-hole Foursomes playoff or closest-to-pin tie-breaker.

The Barony Golf Lab Head-to-Head Knockout is a monthly 1v1 competition featuring a 16‑player seeded knockout bracket. All matches are 9‑hole rounds, and the winner of each match advances to the next stage until a Head‑to‑Head Champion is crowned.

Match Format
1v1 strokeplay is the default format.
All matches are played over 9 holes unless otherwise stated.

£15 donated directly to the named charity for that event

Optional extra donations or raffle ticket sales may be offered on the day.

Barony Golf Lab will host a series of annual charity events supporting local causes including SAMH, Ayrshire Cancer Support and Whiteleys Retreat. These events are open to members and non-members and are designed to be fun, social and fundraising-focused rather than ultra-serious competition, We are open to running other Charity events there is no limit.

Each charity day will use one of these formats (set and advertised per event):

Schedule & Booking
All charity dates are listed in the Barony Golf Lab annual calendar.

Time blocks are advertised in advance (e.g. 10am–4pm charity day).

Players must book and pay in advance.

Mixed groups welcome: members, non-members and guests.

Competition Rules
All rounds must be played on the designated charity course and settings.

No mulligans unless sold as a paid charity add-on.

Scorecards must be submitted and verified before leaving.

In scrambles, a minimum of 2 drives per player should be used.
